Event Productions Inc. Environmental Mission: We are dedicated to supporting green events by offering green options to conserve our natural resources and reduce unnecessary waste to protect and preserve our future

Proud to be the GSC for:

How We Conduct Business:
· Our Warehouse in Alameda, California is a re-purposed historical building on a retired Naval Base.
· We are supporters of Alameda's Green programs and of Sun Cal, a developer hired for the base that is committed to advancing green building concepts. When the master plan for the base is finalized we hope that we will be here to stay and will continue the LEED application process.

· Alameda Power & Telecom: "More than 80% of Alameda's power is generated using renewable resources such as geothermal and hydroelectric facilities. And that's just part of our commitment to environmental values." A Community Goal: "Being the lowest greenhouse-gas-emitting community in Alameda County and one of the lowest in the State!"

· We have re-lit the space with more energy efficient lights.
· We purchase greenhouse gas reduction credits to offset our warehouse electricity usage.
· We are recycling more of our waste, by donating computers, metal, and wood to the community.
· All of our rental items are housed locally, serving 90% of our market, which conserves fuel consumption unlike other national General Service Contractors who house their items in remote warehouses.
· We use alternative substrates for our sigange, which is made from 100% recycled materials.
· When possible we use both sides of the signs that we produce, re-purpose after that for packing materials, or donate it to individuals in the community.
· Our existing carpet inventory is made from a minimum of 25% recycled material, repaired/seemed to get the full life of the carpet, than re-purposed for packing materials. Future carpet purchases will be 100% recycled carpet and scraps will be recycled back into carpet.
· Our employees regularly utilize public transit and to promote the use of public transit to the job site we reimburse the cost to our union crews and promote carpooling.
· When applicable our office prints double-sided, utilizes 100% post consumer chlorine free paper, we separate our paper from any non-recycleable trash in bins than deliver to a company who recycles the paper back into consumer products.
· We use Simple Green as our standard cleaning agent
.
· We are setting up a Bio Diesel fueling station at our warehouse and use Bio Diesel when available to re-fuel
.
· We have catalytic converters that decrease carbon monoxide emissions on all of our forklifts

Options We Can Offer You:

Tips for Exhibitors & Show Management:
· "Economic Bottom Line - Green Meetings & Events Can Save Money Planning and executing a green meeting isn't just about being environmentally responsible, they can have economic benefits for the event organizer. In fact, many of the minimum recommended guidelines in the Green Meetings Report can actually save money. For example, collecting name badge holders for reuse at an event of 1300 attendees can save approximately $975 for the event organizer." Source DEQ
· Ship only what you really need. "On average, one-fifth of the attendees will take a way marketing materials." Source MPI Green Session SF - 2007.
Rent Exhibits and Pop-ups locally rather than shipping to avoid fuel usage and hauling fees.
· Print marketing materials locally rather than shipping.
· Avoid printing by offering disks or PDA downloads.
· "Using recycled materials, recycling materials used, reusing items and reducing materials used can significantly lessen the environmental impact an event has. For example, if a five-day event serves 2200 people breaks, breakfasts, lunches and receptions using china instead of plastic disposables, it prevents 1,890 lbs. of plastic from going into a landfill. That's nearly one ton! Another example is by not pre-filling water glasses at banquet tables during three days of served lunches for 2200 attendees; 520 gallons of water can be saved." Source: Green Meetings Report (best practices) - Convention Industry Council .
· Offer water containers rather than water bottles as give-a ways, in conjunction with water stations provided through the venue make sure the bottle are made from/or are recyclable OR have your attendees bring their own containers from home.

· Think before you mail. Think before you accept mail Can you offer the same information on a mailer via email, or by a phone call? If not, are you printing on recyclable materials and can it be recycled? Are you accepting mail just because? Call the mailer and ask them to take you off their list or send you an email instead or request that they make their mailers 'green'.
· Purchase Green Totes, Pens, Cups and Napkins thru IAEE .
Menu Plans: In addition to choosing foods that are grown locally, select food that if leftover will be accepted by local Food Banks, talk to your caterer to see if they work with a local food bank already. "The U.S. Good Samaritan Law was written to support the donation of food in good faith (www.usda.gov/news/pubs/gleaning/appc.htm)" Source Meeting Professional Magazine 2005.
· Collaborate with Conferences that move-in prior to your event and after your event, talk with the caterer/venue/other planner to arrange similar menu plans which would allow the caterer to bulk order foods thus reducing transportation and may reduce the costs. Donate your floral arrangements for re-use at the next event, etc.
